What hosts and students think of each other
We are delighted to share with you the following story from our hosts and students.
Spending so much time together indoors might be challenging for some families. But for our hosts, Heather and Steve, and their students, Chelsea and Yolanda, it’s all about being creative and having fun together. Here’s what they had to say:
Heather and Steve (hosts, Docklands, Melbourne): We love having Yolanda and Chelsea as part of our family. Our children have grown and moved out, and we enjoy having a full house! Chelsea has been with us for over a year and Yolanda for several months. We celebrate birthdays, Easter and other occasions together, practise English, help with assignments and go out to restaurants. Since Covid-19 became our reality in Australia, we have all spent a lot of time inside. We both work from home, and the girls are studying hard online.
Chelsea (from China): Steve and Heather are very kind to me and care about me every day. Even though we’re stuck at home, Heather makes great food, Steve makes us laugh, we watch movies together at home in the evenings, and they buy board games and puzzles for us not to get bored, which is awesome!
Yolanda (from China): I am so happy to live with Heather and Steven. Heather is nice and considerate and Steven is humorous which makes me feel at home.
It seems the secret to happiness is having a good sense of humour and enjoying the simple things!
We are bringing together people from around the world and, through their individual efforts, they are becoming lifelong friends.
Our special thanks to Heather and Steve for being such wonderful homestay hosts.
