What is homestay?
Homestay is a popular form of accommodation for all domestic and international students, visitors, or anyone who wants to live in a family environment when they are away from home. Students and other guests are usually provided access to a furnished bedroom, meals and facilities such as the laundry and other common areas of the home.
Why Homestay?
Living with local hosts in a homestay provides students and other guests with a safe, hassle-free and comfortable environment whereby they are able to integrate with the local community.
What Is Included In Homestay?
Unlike other accommodation options, homestays offer a complete living experience that includes a furnished bedroom, bed linen, electricity, gas and internet, as well as the use of other public areas in the home. Most Homestays will provide meals, but some homestays offer accommodation only, not including meals.
Shared rooms may be available if 2 students apply together. Both students must be in the same age range and same gender, and sharing is only possible if the host family approves. The host will provide separate beds, desks and wardrobes for each student sharing the room.
How Much Does Homestay Cost?
The Homestay Placement Fee is AUD$365 per person, plus weekly rental as shown below:

- VIP Rooms: VIP Rooms include all features of a Standard Room, plus a private bathroom (either ensuite or a separate bathroom dedicated to the student)
- Twinshare Rooms: Twinshared Rooms are only available if 2 people apply together and wish to share the room.
- Special Diets: If you require a special diet, you will need to pay additional fees, on top of the normal rate
- Weekday Lunches: If you require weekday lunches, you will need to pay additional fees, on top of the normal rate
- Extra Nights: Price available upon request, and subject to availability
