What is Homestay?

Homestay is a safe and convenient accommodation offered by a local host for which a set weekly fee is charged. This fee covers all expenses associated with providing food and shelter to an international student or traveler. This includes providing:

  • A single room for the student’s or the traveler’s use
  • Facilities – a bed, wardrobe, towels, and linen
  • Utilities – gas, electricity, heating, and water costs
  • Cleaning services of common living areas
  • Use of living areas within a residence; including study facilities.

Homestays can be booked either:

  • With Meals, in which case you will be provided with Breakfast and Dinner on Monday to Friday, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner on Saturday and Sunday, or
  • Without Meals, in which case you will be able to use the host’s kitchen to prepare your own meals.

Our homestay Hosts are from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Some host families may have children, others do not. They can also be employed or retired. Some possible kinds of the host family are:

  • 2 parent families
  • Single parent families
  • Couples without children
  • Single person

Our homestay family located in the suburbs with an average travel time to campus between 30 – 50 minutes by public transport
