What should I do if I’m sick?

In the event of an illness or injury, please inform your host immediately. Depending on the severity of the situation, please follow these guidelines:

  • Minor Illness (e.g., flu, cough): Visit a local doctor. Your host may be able to refer you to their own doctor or take you to an appointment if they are available.
  • Serious Illness or Emergency: Go to the nearest hospital for emergency care. Your host family will assist you in getting there and will immediately notify Study Vision. We will then coordinate with your university, agent, and/or parents.
  • Medical Certificates: If you miss any scheduled classes during your study term, ensure you obtain a medical certificate from the doctor or hospital to present to your university.

Medical Costs and Insurance
You are responsible for all medical costs at the time of service. However, many expenses can be claimed back through your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or Travel Insurance policy. We recommend reviewing your specific policy details for any questions regarding coverage and payment.
